In class Juan Pablo the chameleon teaches us how to be a kind and caring friend. Below are some of the phrases we us in class to help us learn to make good choices.

The phrases we use in class are in parentheses.The underlined ones are the ones we have done in class!

Please ask you child about these and reinforce them at home too.

1. Following Directions   ( Follow directions right away)

2. Handling Disappointment ( We get what we need, not always what we want)

3. Respect personal space   ( I have my space, you have your space)

4. Getting a grown-ups attention appropriately (When I want the teacher's attention, I raise my hand)

5. Making Good independent choices  ( I have my own brain, I can make my own choices)

6. Paying Attention ( Where the eyes go, the brain follows)

7. Compassion   ( When we do the right thing, we have happy heart)

8. Honesty ( Always tell the truth, no whoppers)

9)  Using kind words ( Just because we think it doesn't mean we say it)

10) Learning from Mistakes ( The more we practice, the better we get)

once they are underlined, it means your child knows it.

Our Curriculum this month:

Reading :  Letters we know(please practice the sound associated with the letter)
we have completed all of the letters of the alphabet. Please continue to practice all of the sounds including the short vowel sounds. We are also learning about "magic E" at the end of a word and how it changes a vowel to a long sound.

 

sight words we know:   can,we,I,the,like,a,go,see,to,have,play, are, is,for,you,do, his, this, what, has, as, come, but, was,they, because, that,me,my,be, they, or, now,with, out, there,so, of,all, yellow,from, good,
* all words that are decodable, which can be tapped out, cvc words, should be easy for your child now! :)

We are tapping and blending out words and doing this in our writing. Please practice this at home.

*Please remember to keep vowels/digraphs on the ring and also keep all RED words on the ring!

Writer's Workshop :   We will continue to write non-fiction stories.

Math:  We will continue 3D shapes


Fun Ways to practice Math at home:

On the bottom of our Math work mats each day there is a fun home connection activity to review what we have done.

There will be no June Homework calendar!

Complete activities on monthly homework calendar and read nightly. 

 

Weekly Homework:

Monday: Practice new words on word ring,

Tuesday: Poetry Journals: read and sing songs at home

Wednesday: Book Shopping books come home. Please read with your child and ask questions about the reading. Have your child read them many times. Return the books on Friday!
